Katharina Reuter

Katharina Reuter, born 22.10.1976, married, two kids, has been involved in ecological management for many years. She is an agricultural economist and holds a PhD in sustainable marketing. Katharina is currently managing director of UnternehmensGrün – the German Federal Association of Green Business and the coordinator of Ecopreneur.eu, the European Alliance of Sustainable Business Associations.
As a research assistant at the Humboldt University of Berlin, she wrote her PhD Thesis on “Marketing-Chain-Management of Organic Markets in Central Europe and Eastern Europe” which was awarded several prizes (e.g. Humboldt Prize and the Albrecht-Daniel-Thaer prize). Katharina also worked as a freelance consultant for sustainability projects.
In 2005, she became managing director of the Future Foundation for Agriculture, a foundation supporting organic agriculture (Zukunftsstiftung Landwirtschaft) in Bochum, Germany. Also, she coordinated an association engaged in species-appropriate animal breeding (Tierzuchtfonds). Between 2010 and 2013 she was the managing director of the Climate Alliance Germany, a broad social alliance of environmental and development organizations, churches and trade unions.
In her current role as managing director of UnternehmensGrün e.V., the Germen Federal Association of Green Business, she works towards bringing forward sustainable businesses and the green economy on a German as well as European level.
Katharina has a broad interest in politics and obtained various political functions. Among others, she was member of a municipal parliament for six years (BVV Berlin-Mitte and Reinickendorf). Furthermore she has been involved with various NGOs. Katharina was founding and long-time board member of „EkoConnect e.V.“, the International Centre for Ecological Farming in Central and Eastern Europe.
